Just Stay Healthy

Listen, I’m a life coach. So much of what I’m trained to do is help people set and achieve their goals. But this season? This is weird.

As soon as this virus started spreading, I took a big step back. So much of my market became immediately saturated with coaches who wanted to rush in and tell you how to use this time to your advantage, how to hustle hard from home, how to monetize your hobbies as we all suddenly got told to stay home.

I get that, perspective, I do. And I get that the LARGE majority of coaches are self-employed and also trying to find financial security in the midst of a crisis.

But this message of “if you don’t use this time to do [BLANK] then you are undisciplined/unmotivated/uninspired/etc.” — that’s not a message I want to preach.

We are in an unprecedented time. This global health pandemic is a very traumatic experience for so many people. Maybe you have more time at home, but that doesn’t mean you HAVE to be productive, HAVE to get your side hustle going, HAVE to take up a new hobby, HAVE to learn a new skill, HAVE to do anything.

Stay healthy, friends. If for you, that means you need to rest, rest. If it means you need something new to do, do it. If a new hobby helps you cope, by all means, get on it! But there should be no pressure to produce more because we are undergoing a global crisis.

Just stay healthy. Whatever that means for you.

And if I can help you, I’m here.

This pandemic is affecting the mental health of MANY of us, whether or not any previous mental health issues existed. I get that. I can empathize with that. I specialize in that. So if I can help you, I’m here. PLEASE reach out.

And if you WANT to grow your business or hustle hard or set new goals or revisit you vision or take this time to reset and reevaluate your whole life, I can help you with that, too!

But do not be pressured by any societal messages that are guilting you into that path. Just staying healthy is enough.

One Month Down

Well, folks, it’s the first week of February! One month down. Only eleven more to go. It’s time for a check-in!

How is your new year so far? Are you still working toward your resolutions? Are you still inspired by your vision board? Are you still meditating on the word you chose for the year?

It’s so common to see people abandon all new year goals by February. More often than not, I find it’s because the goals that were created weren’t specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and/or bound to a timeline. I also see lack of accountability as another huge reason these well-intentioned goals are pushed aside.

If you fall into the camp of people who have gotten off track, it’s okay! All hope is not lost! There is still time to re-evaluate and readjust and realign. And I would love to help!

I would love to work together with you to help you create goals you can actually achieve. Let’s look together at your purpose, personality, passions, and priorities. Let’s identify your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and the things that threaten to throw you off track. Let me help you craft goals that are in line with what you are called to and what you value. And then let me cheer you on and hold you accountable, so that in December, when you’re reflecting on another year, you can be proud that you actually accomplished what you set out to do!

I’m just saying... you might need a life coach!

Don't Fight Alone

According to this article published by CNN on Monday, April 8, “The number of children and teens in the United States who visited emergency rooms for suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts doubled between 2007 and 2015... the researchers tracked the number of children between 5 and 18 who received a diagnosis of suicidal ideation or suicide attempts each year. Diagnoses of either condition increased from 580,000 in 2007 to 1.12 million in 2015... Depression and a prior suicide attempt are the two biggest risk factors for suicide, and with rates of suicide on the rise, it makes sense for risk factors to increase as well...”

UNTREATED MENTAL ILLNESS IS KILLING OUR CHILDREN.

This is SO important and SO heartbreaking, y’all. Of course, we need more of Jesus and more of the gospel. Sickness and illness and broken bodies are all a result of the fall. But just like we treat colds and diabetes and cancer with modern medicine and various therapies, illness in the brain can ALSO be treated and managed!!

If you are trying to #findyourjoy and #fightforjoy in the midst of depression or anxiety or suicidal thoughts, and if you are looking for more support in your fight — consider adding a coach to your circle. Honestly, #youmightneedalifecoach. Or if you know a teen girl or college girl could use some extra support from someone who specializes is mental health and wellness coaching, #getheralifecoach!

No one has to fight alone. There is a God who cares about what’s going on in your brain. There are resources available for those who are fighting for their mental health. And there are people with a passion, skill set, and expertise in this field who are dedicating this lives and careers to this cause.

I am one of those people. Please, if there’s a place for me, let me help. Let’s get this number decreased.

Coaching with Me

If you’ve ever been curious about what coaching with me is like, here are a few coaching facts for you:

➕ Coaching is a safe, cozy, and confidential space for you and I to get together one-one-one, discover your purpose, #findyourjoy, and create a vision for your life.
➕ After figuring out what it is you want to work toward, we create an action plan for you to make that happen. (Coaching is all about setting, editing, and achieving your goals!)
➕ With me as your coach, you get a life designer, a cheerleader, a prayer partner, and a teammate all in one.
➕ I LOVE the women I work with and I LOVE all of the different aspects of life we get to tackle — self-esteem, relationships, careers, identities, finances, spirituality, and more!

So, with all that being said... Is there anything in your life that feels confusing, unfulfilling, hard to navigate? Are you confused about your purpose or calling? Are you in a season of aimlessness and frustration that you need help to break out of?

Don't Escape

I recently heard someone say that true self-care is creating a life you don’t constantly need to escape from. I’ve been thinking a lot about that this week! Some of the questions I’ve been asking myself are:

- What steps can I take to create a life I enjoy living?
- What joy can I infuse into the daily, mundane tasks I’m responsible for?
- What boundaries can I set for myself so that I don’t find myself bound to obligations that drain my energy?

For me, a simple choice I make to help me enjoy life more — is intentionally choosing joy.

Each sip of coffee is joy. Each sweet moment in scripture is joy. Each quiet moment before getting out of bed in the morning is joy. Each car ride is joy, each hand-hold with my husband is joy, each smile from a stranger is joy. It may sound silly, but choosing to intentionally focus on my perceptions, my attitudes, my neuro-linguistic processing of every moment — doing all of that helps reduce the need to “escape.”

If you find yourself desiring to escape your daily life, it may be worth delving into the why. Why are you unhappy? Why does “that thing,” whatever it is, drain your energy or steal your joy? Why are you feeling unfulfilled? Can shifting your mindset help? Or could you benefit from a more intensive approach with guidance from a professional?

I’m just saying, #youmightneedalifecoach! Can I help you #findyourjoy?
